Getting There!

OK!! Just finished recording the first 1/3 of the middle book of the Alexa Silven trilogy, Murder by Design: Alexa Silven Returns. I think it’s great now that I’ve learned how to record in my studio and how to edit, too. I’ve got to look into doing voice-overs! This is actually teaching me some patience…. got to go! In a hurry!! (LOL)

Brilliant Creative!

Dan has created some of the most engaging, artful ads for our website, cbhoffmann.com, that I’ve ever seen! Check them out on youtube (especially the one that’s on fire!) and on our interactive website (which he also created). Just had to brag! He’s really good, you know? You’ve got to see this!! Murder by Design Underway!

Now that the first novel of the trilogy, Consuming Fire: An Alexa Silven Novel, is available on Audible.com, I am actively recording the second book, Murder by Design: Alexa Silven Returns.  What’s interesting is that I get caught up in the storyline and characters all over again, as a reader rather than the writer. Strange but fun experience!

Finding a direction

If you’re trying to decide whether or not to attend college or tech school, or which major or career interests you, consider taking one of the many personality or career inventories that are online. This would help you see your strengths and personal preferences.  An Academic Advisor could help analyze your results and connect you to a proper course of study or if you would benefit more from a certification program. But these inventories are not hard to analyze and do offer a sense of direction.

Finally!

While going through the last of my keepsakes from teaching, I found 2 lists of students who had requested a copy of my book, Too Many Choices, a comedy about high school drama. I just finished gifting them a book from Amazon.  Really!! It’s about time, after 7 1/2 months! Sorry ’bout that!

Audio Recording

After recording all 150 pages of our first novel, Consuming Fire: An Alexa Silven Novel, it was decided by my partner and editor, Dan, and me that the use of distinctive voices for the various characters was too confusing for an audio book. So…I recorded it a second time and developed a new style and narrator voice. Finally, we both agreed it was perfect. It was really exciting when we submitted it on December 27 for approval as an audio book. Can’t wait to get our first audio book online with audible.com. Stay posted… we should know if any changes are required within the next few days!! YEEHAW!!!!

“Hacksaw Ridge”

When you see this movie, you know you are seeing a quality, blockbuster film. I usually don’t recommend movies, but this one is exceptional. Hope you get a chance to see it – you’ll be inspired and amazed.

Audio Underway!

It’s a ton of fun…, or is that work? Getting the chapters together for the final recording… it’s like learning a new skills set – audio recording and editing is WORK but also fun – that is, when it’s done! The Creatives at the Apple Store are really helpful with teaching me about Garageband. Thank the good Lord that they are there! Submission of first novel, Consuming Fire: An Alexa Silven Novel should happen by the end of November….hope audible.com approves it.

Voice Over Challenges

November 11 – So much to learn and do here! Guess recording a book on GarageBand is better when each chapter is recorded on the same track. So, very simply, I learned that recording a chapter into segments is problematic in “gluing” them together into continuous chapters and then into one single book format. The more I learn, the more comfortable I become with audible media and at this point, I’m enjoying doing voice overs and developing  a new skill. Hey! – at least it beats boredom!
