Can’t Wait!

It’s my first paperback version of my book, Consuming Fire: An Alexa Silven Novel 4th Edition. I really appreciate Amazon making it available in paperback format. And soon, it will be available on Audible.com. Whichever you choose, you’ll find it unique and action-driven, minus the cursing, gratuitous sex, and drugs or alcohol. You don’t need them. This book is for real. Try it out!

Consuming Fire is ALIVE!!

The very first book, Consuming Fire: An Alexa Silven Novel, needed updating! So much technology in it, that it required updating to keep up with today’s newest developments and improvements… just like computer scientists who need to stay current with the newest programming languages.  So, this announces that the 4th version of this Consuming Fire novel is now available on Amazon, iTunes, and BN. A new feature with Amazon is that it is not only available as an ebook, but is now also available in printed paperback format. Can’t wait to get my hands on this book, a labor of love by Dan and me – and we are satisfied this version is “New & Improved” – a must-read! The Audible.com book should be released soon! Stay tuned for updates!

It’s Alive!

We’ve finished rewriting the first book, Consuming Fire: An Alexa Silven Novel 4th Edition, and Dan & I are VERY Happy with this rewrite! I hate revisions, but I am learning the value and benefit of excellence! Also, check out our first film of the action scene in the first chapter of this same book.  We’re getting great reviews! The new audio book will be downloaded to Audible.com in the next few days!

Revisions—Can’t Live With Them, Can’t Write Without Them

Consuming Fire: An Alexa Silven Novel cover artwork

New Edition – First Book! It’s funny – I just wasn’t satisfied with my first novel. I mean, the plot and characters were good, but something bothered me. After writing 5 other books and rereading the first novel, Consuming Fire: An Alexa Silven Novel, I finally realized how I could revise it – there were a few “loose ends” – connections that I took for granted the reader understood – which I always told my students NOT to do. I used to remind them that the reader is not inside your head… Right! So taking my own advice, I set out to rewrite it and with the help of my partner/son, Dan, we did just that!! WOW! It was worth all the effort, too. Soon, it will be posted online as the 4th Edition, in place of the original text, and we couldn’t be happier. It’s a great feeling to be completely »

Soundproof Panel

CB's audio recording studio "before" photo

Dan suggested and designed a wooden soundproof panel that is now hanging over my studio recording desk. Check out the video here. It took four people to corroborate over three days to saw 2×2 boards into various heights, sand them, arrange them on the panel, and glue them into place. Then Dan painted it and he and John hung it over the desk. This was a major project with major rewards. We are all hoping the book recordings for Audible.com will attain a new level of professional sound. Can’t wait to get started!

Gun Range

CB & Dan at the gun range

How ironic?! I write murder mysteries about a female assassin with a Glock, who uses hollow point bullets –  but I don’t like guns. Emille and Dan took us to a gun range in Orlando and everyone enjoyed shooting at the hanging target. That is,  everyone but me. I shot the Glock 9mm only a couple of times and that was totally sufficient for me. Even with earmuffs, it’s too loud. I would definitely need more practice to hit the bullseye, because though I thought I was aiming directly at the bullseye, with the recoil, I don’t think I even hit an outer ring. It’s a good thing my main character in the Alexa Silven novels is a sniper who qualified for the Olympics… boy, imagination is great!

My studio, a place I love!

And…a whole new career I’m embracing 100%. For those of you who like GarageBand, I’ve found that recording and editing on that program has become one of my favorite things to do. And of course, I liked it more after spending hours learning and perfecting my skills. My studio is a soundproof room in our house, complete with recording equipment our son Dan picked out for me. AND – he made wall hangings out of the book covers he’s created for each of our 6 books – check out this picture of my studio with those book covers hanging over my recording equipment. Creating the right environment is really encouraging, not to mention cool.
