It’s hard to make this confession! I have WRITER’S BLOCK!! Doesn’t the American Pharmaceutical Corporation make any medicine for this condition?! They make it for everything else!! OK, seriously… I’m grateful for prayers to move me out of the mud. Inspiration needed here! Dan & Emille (in Malaysia and Bali) know what I mean!!
Believing When You Can’t See It Yet
Have you ever waited a long time for a dream to come true, only to eventually start to lose hope? I started writing Consuming Fire thirty-one years ago, revised it ~17 times, and finally my son/partner and I published the final version on Amazon.com earlier this year. We hired a PR agent in NYC and immediately landed my first interview, on live TV, no less, and two radio interviews — one from Sacramento, CA and one in Ocala, FL. We also got a great book review (check for links in previous blogs). I thought we were on our way!! Then, nothing! That’s right, nothing happened after that! Bottom line: it’s not fun to walk through the desert with no oasis in sight. But I’ve come to the conclusion that this is what real faith is all about… trusting & believing God has plans for your future & is working things together for your »
Writing with Purpose!
It’s true, you know? Writers must write. We see people and events as story ideas and it never seems to end. The unending story belongs to writers with imagination and determination to write the best story God has placed within them. But if that’s the only purpose to writing – to write your best possible novel – what is your reward? Isn’t that rather personal and a bit solitary? Oh sure, some people will enjoy it, and maybe that’s enough for the writer. But that’s not enough for this writer. I want people to enjoy my books, sure! But I want it to inspire their lives, first and foremost. I want people, especially my readers, to know that their sins and grievous wrongs will not keep them from the love of God. Repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation are the main themes of my books. Why? Because they are the main »
Social Media Quirks
Social Media – it’s definitely taking over! Trying to become efficient on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook is a bit trickier when you have a business approach. AND when you are someone who doesn’t like social media because of all the negative comments, it’s pretty hard to warm up to the need to master these sites. Prayer definitely needed here!
Self-Improvements Don’t Come Easy
An amazing thing is happening. I asked the Father to help me change according to His will. I’m discovering Him as a counselor, the best! It’s encouraging to know He cares this much and He is answering my prayers… and it all begins with me. This is what I’ve learned so far: * Though I thought I’d forgiven my husband and in-laws many times over the years, I wouldn’t still be struggling with these memories and emotions if I had really forgiven them. * Forgiveness is not a matter of choice and it’s not based on whatever offense you’ve suffered. It’s a command and for those who want to deepen their relationship with Christ, it’s not just a command, it becomes the deepest desire of your soul to obey Him. * It is obedience I’m being taught. Obedience in forgiving, despite any wounds or offenses suffered, and »
Saddened…
Today I heard that one of my all-time favorite high school students died from a motorcycle accident. I was invited to the funeral. But what do you say to his family? To his wife & son? The only solace I can find is in knowing that when I taught over the last 29 years, I never denied my faith. People have to choose for themselves whether or not to believe and WHO to believe in. I have chosen to believe in the only one who ever loved me enough to die for me, sins and all, Jesus Christ. And I hope you’ve made that decision, too. Our time on this earth is short – he was in his 20’s – but eternity is forever. Decide where you want to live it and follow Him there!
